Apple Stuffing
Apple Stuffing is a classic for good reason — cornbread does most of the work, and the method is approachable enough for a weeknight. Sweet without being heavy, it works just as well for an afternoon treat as for dessert. Below you will find the full ingredient list, the method, and a few tips we think make the difference.
- Level Easy
Ingredients
- 10 ½ cup Cornbread, crumbled finely
- ½ cup Dried apples
- ½ cup Apple jelly
- ¼ cup Walnuts, roughly chopped
- Kosher Salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp White granulated sugar
- 4 Egg Yolks, beaten
- 4 Egg whites, beaten to stiff peaks with ?
- ¼ cup Shredded Fontina cheese
Method
- Combine all ingredients except cheese and egg whites. Gently fold in whipped egg whites, in a few batches.
- Pour into a roasting pan. Top with shredded cheese and bake at 325°F for 30 minutes, or until browned and bubbly on top.
- Remove and let rest for 7 minutes. Serve warm or use for Apple Stuffed Pork Chops.
Tips for the best Apple Stuffing
- Read the whole method before you start and measure out the 10 ingredients first — it keeps the pace relaxed once the heat is on.
- Taste as you go. Seasoning at the end is fine, but adjusting halfway through gives a more balanced result.
- Use a kitchen scale for the dry ingredients if you have one — baking is less forgiving than cooking.
- Rest the finished dish for a few minutes before serving — it lets the flavours settle and the texture firm up.
Variations
- Spicier version: add a pinch of chilli flakes or a sliced fresh chilli with the aromatics.
- Swap the egg for silken tofu — keep the cooking time similar and check for doneness.
- Individual portions: divide into ramekins or a muffin tin and reduce the baking time by about a third.
Serving ideas
Best with fresh berries on the side and a little whipped cream.
Storage
Keeps in an airtight container at room temperature for 2–3 days, or refrigerated for up to a week. Most versions freeze well for 2 months.
